Subject: St. Francis referendum

Well, it is a happy day in good 'ol St. Francis. Thanks to the people of our great town and school district, the infamous referendum was passed last week. Maybe now our district can start to get its act together, finally. This means that our district may not be third from the last district for dollars per student in the state. If you ask me, that is absolutely rediculus that we got to that point. Education is the engine that runs this country. Without it people would be a whole lot dumber than they already are. We St. Francisites are now on a corse to change that. I just want to say way to go everyone who voted for it. Fine job!

My family can't afford to have our taxes boosted like that. Two kids going through college, and freaking HUGE lawsuit for knocking over a semi with our van, and 151 acres in St. Francis, and now they're going to tax us to death, and you'll all miss me cause I was dead.
You know, St. Francis folk are pathetic. Their referndum ethics suck. Let's just push for a referendum every year until they finally pass it. Not because anyone wants you too, but because, well, you know...we're big cry babies.
Ok...I"m done ranting and raving. And I'm really not as upset as it sounds.
Gotta get to class.

I have a lot to say about the referendum,but not entirlly related.

More money does not nessisarilly mean better education, Up to a certain point it matter, but beyond that it is all just more cherries on the sunday.

We were one of the lowest districs on REFERENDUM money not total money. The figure was related to just the amount of referendum dollars per student.

By the end of this year the debt was to had been eliminated.

Last year the school district stoped bussing within 2 miles, not to save money, but to piss people off enought to pass the referendum.

Thats all i can remember of my rant now, but if i remember more i will be sure to share it.

I'm sort of typing whatever comes to mind so my apologies if it's unorganized:
As a future educator, I find funding for schools to be very very important. I am so glad the referendum passed, I'm not so glad it took this long. I know they're finally getting out of the red, now they can continue prospering and have resources we never had. Josh is somewhat right in that education doesn't need money. We need to pay teachers and staff somehow. What about building mantinence and new resources. Computers, and other technology is getting huge, we need to stay on track with todays advancing world and prepare the kids for what's coming after they graduate. The U of M is going through the same thing right now with a budget/distribution crisis. State funding has been cut (thanks for nothing trickle down theory) and we're getting hit with it. I know the St. Francis thing was partly the fauslt of administrators but it seems things are on track now. It cam eto eliminationg teachers jobs. That's a sign that something's wrong and it needs to be fixed.
ok over now cause I need to do some HW, more later possibly.
