Subject: Has this ever happened to you?

Have you ever been in your room reading and talking on the phone, you know, just some general quiet time only to realize that all the guys on your dorm floor have went to dinner without you? It's truly a terrible thing. If you ever dorm, don't ever do it to anyone.

I told myself I wouldn't cry. Be strong Michael, be strong...

Well Mike, all I can say is, welcome to dorm life. The dorm is a crazy place to live. Everyone's schecule is different. The only piece of advice that I can give to you is that you should talk with the guys on your floor a lot. Ask them when they are going to dinner and to let you know when they are leaving. On the occasion that you get really hungry sooner than usual, just start yelling down the hall asking if anyone is hungry and wants to go to dinner. Most of the time you will get the popular, "How bout in 10 minutes?" In most cases, that's the best you can do unless you want to eat alone. In some cases, you'll get some people who want to go right then. So always be on top of what's happening on your floor. That's my little piece of advice for dealing with eating issues in the dorm.

i have had this happen...several times in fact. however, the story i am about to tell is a tale of much more woe.

there is a thing called roomate roulette that happens at bethel. (i'm sure it happens at other colleges too) basically, the floor you are on plans an event to go to, and your roomate asks some person of the opposite sex for you to go with. so then everyone has their dates and goes to a movie or something as a floor and their respective "dates". most of the time it has nothing to do with romantic feelings, and your roomate will pick a person they know you are good friends with. alright, now for the story part. one night i am sitting in my room at about the time it was for dinner. i decided i wanted to go eat. so i went out into the hallway to see if anyone wanted to go. no one was there. it turns out that the girls side of our dorm was having their roomate roulette that night, and since it was at the beginnging of the year, the only guys they really knew were from our floor. (we had done a few bonding things together) i was one of the few guys that had not been asked. as soon as i realized this, i went to dinner and ate by myself. a sad night indeed. the same thing happended during second semester last year, but i wasn't the only guy that didn't go then because the girls knew more people then, so it wasn't as bad. anyway, that's my sad story. i wouldn't wish it to happen to anyone. *sigh*

Steve,

We can both relate to each other so if you ever need to vent or a shoulder to cry on, think of me. We could start a support group if you'd like, though I don't know if this will be a recurring event...

Mike.

Oh, and my Sci-Fi class totally rules.

Mike I'm sorry I didn't ask you if you wanted to go to dinner, you see I have "cool" friends now and I didn't want them to meet you... you understand right?
