I don't think I "got" anything (but thanks for the support warren), because I dropped that forum from my browsers the day I saw that postings I had made were blocked while others were going through.
So, If Frank thinks he "got" me at all, I wouldn't know.
The world is much bigger than the internet.
I work a full time job working to protect those in the military serving our country. The equipment I build and maintain has kept soldiers alive.
I work what could be considered a second full time job, trying to raise children that are the responsibility of everyone, children that have been damaged by rejection, abuse and neglect. This requires ongoing training, extreme emotional investment, a lot of begging, and continual adversarial efforts just to provide for the basic needs and safety of these children.
I worked for years volunteering in churches and youth groups in support of at-risk youth in the inner cities.
Now, I am vice-president of the statewide advocacy organization in support of foster/kinship and adoptive youth in Massachusetts, leading hundreds of foster and adoptive parents in support of those children (and in this year alone, we are close to succeeding in attaining an increase in the daily rate paid to foster parents and acquiring dental care for thousands of children who have had difficulty getting this service for years) Our efforts to educate legislative leaders and the public are having a positive effect on life in our state. I have been working to educate the foster parents as well on banding together in support of our causes.
Maybe I've taken on too much. I often think so.. I know my friends do as well.
My efforts during this last election became an exercise in showing my children that people do make a difference and their efforts do matter. I also got to show them a little about how a town and school is run. When it became a personal challenge.. I held my own. That effort is complete for now, and there are more appropriate venues to advocate for my kids that will get much better results.
Now, whatever Frank is saying to himself over there... I'm not worried... because I don't see it. I'm not going to go looking for criticism... I can criticize myself enough.
Like I said earlier, he may think that he is putting his energy and effort into improving things.. but there are a lot more concrete ways to do that in our community(ies).
If I spent my time worrying about every nay-sayer and critic, I would never get anything done... and I've got a lot more yet to do ...
