Somehow old paradigms hang on until they smell so bad you finally notice them. Like the either/or paradigm.

This morning I was looking at my life and seeing that either it is a total waste OR it is something new and wonderful emerging. Oh I get it, duh...it's both a total waste AND something new emerging.

What this means in practicality is that I can stop feeling like I should be shot everytime I show up as a total waste. This doesn't mean I'm ALWAYS a total waste and nothing else is happening here. SOMETIMES I may NOT be a total waste and hey!...OTHER me's exist also...like the neutral me, and the pleasing me, and the funny me and...and you know what? The total waste me which is so obsessive MIGHT just be useful sometimes, like when it comes to pulling weeds, obsessive is a POSITIVE quality. And who ever said that only positive qualities were acceptable anyway. Doesn't it do your heart good to see someone worse off that you are? I may be serving some great purpose in being a total waste. At least I'm giving others someone to be better than...

And who EVER said that I had to serve some purpose by being here. Maybe there IS no purpose in being here. Maybe it doesn't matter. Maybe I can just be a total waste all my life and that's perfectly OK. Maybe it can be perfectly OK for me, anyway. The real trouble is that old stupid inner critic that keeps telling me I have to be this or do that in order to be acceptable to others.

Hey! do you give a fig whether I'm perfectly OK or not? I bet you don't stay awake nights worrying about it, do you. IF you are even out there.
