Hardship Knew Me Then

Hardship knew me then, when my frame was young and limber
Hardship knew me then I think
Hardship knew me in teen years I remember too.
Hardship knew my name.
When young adulthood stood up to bow
Harship knew my name also
Hardship followed me most my life
I have come to know her well
Hardship, I know her name too
She knows mine, and I know hers,
Hardship, I had that dance one upon a time I recall
Harship...we slow danced once
Twilght years now beckon, and hardship still stands,
But I do stand also,
Hardship, I know her, and she knows me,
For we slow danced once.
