Its not my intention to be hateful towards any of them. A few of my friends are Dogfishes. But its hard to really take them seriously. Yeah, they have a handful of fast guys. But so many of them are strictly weekend warriors or wannabes. When I am at Castlewood, and I see a colored jersey coming my way, I look to see if its someone I could ride with - someone who can ride a little better than the white t-shirt clad crowd, out there. But when I see that its a just Dogfish jersey coming my way, I usually lose interest. I like them all, but in my opinion they are just lower down in the pecking order from, say Big Shark riders or Sunset. With those teams, there is a constant evolution going on. The expert guys all have potential of being really fast experts. The sport guys will all eventually become expert. Most of the beginner guys will likely be racing sport next year. Always evolving, always improving.
As they latch onto new beginners, each season, who are serious about the sport, and serious about getting better, they take them under their wings and the process starts over.

Just buying a colorful jersey dosent make you a serious racer. Theres certainly nothing wrong with not being a serious racer...but just dont expect us to take you seriously. My advice is to keep the guys like the Pirtles, Nagy, Erb, Fletcher, ect. But, lose the weekend warriors and wannabes. Until then, to me, its just another "bicycling fun club".
