Hi CJ,

Good to have you hear.

I can't recall hearing from any historical records that the Romans tried Jesus as a pagan or witch. They knew He was a Jew, and tried Him as a rabble rouser, and that only to appease the Pharisees. If you can present any historical evidence that states that the Romans tried Him as a Witch or Pagan I would like to see it presented here publically.

I suspect that you may have gotton this idea from one of the many popular pagan books that are out there at the moment. I have a good number of them and have read through a fair few of them and have observed that many of them are full of theories like this. Often, many of the readers take much of what they say on board without any evidence. Of course, people can't be blamed for this. It is just that if people keep reading things like this it is not long before it is absorbed into their belief system.

With all that said, the closest thing that can be said about this theory is that the biblical record describes how the Jews accused Jesus as being in league with evil spirits. But that was the Jews, not the Romans. In fact, the Romans actually put a sign above Jesus' head saying: "Jesus: King of the Jews", to the objection of the Jewish leaders of His day.
