Hi Silverfox,

Glad to hear of your position on love spells. However, I have found recently, that even a cursory glance at the latest mind body and spirit type magazines in my local newsagents, has many witches and pshycics clamouring to offer people love spells to get that special person. It does seem like many in the neo-pagan community have some problems with this, but the wider and larger public who have a vague sort of interest in the subject, are jumping into the idea of love spells feet first.

As to binding, one of the problems I have with this is that it seems to break the Wiccan/Witches Rede. "An it harm none". What is one's definition of when someone is harming someone? For example, what is one's definition of wrong doing? It may be something such as when one does physical harm to other people but to others it could be something as trivial as stopping a gossip or simply someone a witch/wiccan takes a dislike to. There may even be people who dislike the fact that the Spotlight Ministries website writes articles of a critical nature regarding paganism. What I am saying is that what consitutes a binding to one may not constitute a binding to another. Here is an interesting quote:

Susan Greenwood explains:

"The Dianic Witch, Z. Budapest in The Holy Book of Women's Mysteries says that if women hex rapists or others who 'commit crimes of patriarchy', there is no divine retribution. She gives instructions on how to perform a 'Righteous Hex', for 'violent criminals only' and when you 'know, not just think' that someone has harmed you' (1990). But I have heard mention of hexing being done between witches for more mundane reasons, over quarrels about money for example, or to gain retribution against an employer who was unsympathetic." (Susan Greenwood, Magic, Witchcraft and the Otherworld: An Anthropology, p. 201).
