 Juwana, are you sure you're smoking tabacco? The idea that second hand smoke has no proven effect on cancer rates (or other smoking related illnesses) is ludicrous. More importantly, are you going to be the one that pays for a someone's illness from second hand smoke? No, it's the American tax payers who fork out the money to pay for these services. Therefore, I belive that it's perfectly appropriate for the government/workplaces to enforce rules/regulations that limit second hand smoke exposure. Don't get me wrong, California has some very oppressive regulations (e.g. No smoking in public.). But, for the most part, having to walk outside to a designated smoking area is not a big deal. As far as describing these smoking areas as dirty little hovels, it's your hovel, make what you want of it.
