Maybe I should start a humor column called: "those silly democrats."

Ummm . . . where do I start. Oh yeah - the steel industry. So - the steel industry bottomed out in the late 70's/early 80's and has never (will never) recover. Rather than acknowledging this and moving on to other revenue sources Democrats who run the rust belt have insisted on government intervention in the issue in order to keep the steel industry alive. So, under massive political pressure from the left and in a rare act of bipartisanship, the Bush administration enacted some steel tarrifs. Well, the world revolted. The WTO deemed them illegal and demanded they be lifted. Democrats screamed: "keep the sanctions America First," the union screamed: "keep the sanctions - save our jobs," and the steel industry leaders said: "lift the damn sanctions - they don't do us any good anyhow."

So Bush kept the tarrifs around a bit - again giving in to the left for some unknown reason.

The world reacted angrily and finally the WTO enacted sanctions against the USA. Well, of course, right here in my hometown of Pittsburgh, President Bush announced that he would lift the tarrifs. The unions were out in force screaming and yelling about his not caring for them, the democrats siezed the opportunity to declare Bush weak. I was nearly attacked by picketers as I left my workplace downtown and apparently 'looked conservative.' Whatever.

Now - the democrats are attacking Bush for not having lifted the tarrifs earlier. Seriously . . . read about it right here: http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/02/28/dems.radio.ap/index.html.

What a bunch of morons - how said for you lefties.
