Partly my fractured nature and partly fractured fairy tale --

Our local rag has a weekly column (on Mondays) featuring fairy tales adapted by a writer and an illustrator. The Schlida were men of extreme wisdom who pretended they were fools. Over time, they forgot how to be wise. The story ran March 29, 2004 -- and has already disappeared from the archives. I was not aware of the original antecedent fairy tale, but the sound of the name and the warning implicit in the story were appealling. And so, "schlida" was born, but one in a long line of personae.
