Um, I think he is backing up the point that making guns illegal won't prevent criminals from getting guns.

I agree there. Make them legal, tax them, regulate them by the FDA, and enforce laws similar to alcohol laws (driving after use, age to buy, etc...) and you not only empty the prisons of these people, you probably drive down the price, get rid of drug wars and drug related violence (a lesson we learned with the mobs during prohibition).

It has to do with many things, the environment in which you raise your kids in especially. If I tell my kids that drugs are bad, then get drunk in front of them, I'm not setting a good example. If I tell them not to smoke, then light of a cigarette, same bad example. Where'd you pick up your habits grim? Maybe your parents should have been more involved with your social life (keeping an eye on the friends you chose), maybe they were tellnig you one thing but setting a bad example...

This comes back to the environment. Sort of like the point Kharn tried to make about exposure to guns making people violent, the *big* difference here is that guns are inanimate objects that can't influence a person one way or another, while people can influence the actions of others.
