I'm not so sure about that. If you have a highly charged situation where people are aggitated and in an upset emotional condition the presence of a firearm can suggest a course of action that might not otherwise be taken. After all the value of a firearm is that it creates possibilities. That's what tools do. The possibilities that guns create aren't conducive to spur of the moment rash decision making.
