What I suggest is that it is possible, given our track record, to achieve free democratic rule in these countries despite what the nay-sayers are all moaning and groaning about.

I'm sure there were planty of twits saying we couldn't succeed with MacArthurs' plans for Japan.

Ultimately, bringing Japan into the 20th century helped the U.S. and the world, just like bringing the Middle East (kicking and screaming) into the 21st century will be to everyones advantage.
