And not only did he write reams of material, but his standard of quality was always top notch. I also really liked it that his stuff is so very believable and founded in actual science (he had a Ph.D in Biology). Sci-fi writers (any writer actually) that expects me to take their word on a pertinant fact, rather than demonstrating the reality through their prose quickly loses my respect.

Asimov's first "Robot" novel "The Caves of Steel" strikes me as being very prophetic. It won't be long before we are all dining on various strains of yeast rather than actual meat and agriculture products. It'll all depend on the most efficient way to produce enough caloric content suitable for human consumption. The only thing he missed in that series (and maybe he didn't?) were the sheer number of people. His hyper populated Earth had about 10-12 billion inhabitants. I expect we'll see those kinds of numbers fairly soon unless something drastic happens?
