Just the typical cut-and-paste type of journalism at the Oshkosh Northwestern newspaper, but at least they were quick to post this news brief on the Oshkosh Northwestern website, and perhaps published in either today's or in the Sunday, May 10th issue of the Oshkosh Northwestern.

Miss Wisconsin pageant in Oshkosh postponed until 2021 due to coronavirus pandemic

OSHKOSH---The 2020 Miss Wisconsin competition has been postponed until next year.

The Miss America Organization Board of Directors announced Friday that the national pageant was postponed to 2021 due to the coronavirus outbreak. The board advised organizers of the 51 qualifying competitions across the country to take the same step.

The local titleholders who would have competed in the 2020 Miss Wisconsin and Miss Wisconsin’s Outstanding Teen competitions will compete for Miss Wisconsin 2021 – if they decide to continue their reigns, according to the Miss Wisconsin Scholarship Organization. Any current titleholder who would have aged-out by next year is still eligible to compete in 2021.

”At this time, as an organization, our greatest concern is to make sure the thousands of people who are involved in or volunteer for our program are safe," Miss America board chair Shantel Krebs said. "This coming year will be our 100th anniversary for this iconic American institution, and we want to make sure that we take the time to ensure our annual broadcast and the surrounding experiences reflect our time-honored tradition.”

The Wisconsin competition will take place in June 2021, the organization said. Miss Wisconsin organizers decided in April to postpone the competition until August. The pageant was originally scheduled to take place in June at Alberta Kimball Auditorium in Oshkosh.

OSHKOSH---The 2020 Miss Wisconsin scholarship competition has been postponed.

The Miss Wisconsin and Miss Wisconsin Outstanding Teen competitions will now take place Aug.19-22 at Alberta Kimball Auditorium in Oshkosh, according to the Miss Wisconsin Scholarship Organization Facebook page. The pageant was originally scheduled for June.

The event organizers cited the "safety of our candidates, volunteers and attendees" as the reason for pushing back the pageant.

Tickets will be available soon at misswisconsin.com.
