I saw these remarks posted here on the Miss America Facebook page and on the MAO message board:

There was a news article printed in 2016 that stated that the Miss Kenosha pageant was on the verge of being cancelled. Joya Zamora Santarelli stated that no one had come forward to take charge of it and there was "no possibility" that she was able to continue in that capacity. That's when Laura Kaeppelar stepped in and took charge of the 2017 pageant which was held in April. When Laura became a member of the board of directors for the MAO, she resigned the executive director position, and once again Joya and several other former Miss Kenosha's took charge of the pageant that was held in February of 2018.

Now in 2019 Joya is once again the designated executive director for the pageant. How is it that now all of a sudden she is able to take on that position when she said she was done back in 2016. Her return to the pageant and her cousin's desire to become Miss Kenosha and ultimately winning the title does seem fishy to me. Joya should have completely removed herself from the board.

Joya's judges may have been good/ethical but even if they drew a name from a hat -- to win the Miss Kenosha crown it would not look good, 13:25:17 02/20/19 Wed
