Subject: The Actual Age of Sarah Ann (Gill) Seevers

A lot has been written about the age of Andrew Jackson Seevers' wife Sarah Ann (Gill) Seevers. She is said to have lived to be 110 years old. But, I am not sure how accurate this may be.

When you go back to the older census records, you will see in the 1850 census for Olive Township, Morgan County, Ohio she gives her age as 25. Then in the 1860 census for Newport Township, Washington County, Ohio she gives her age as 36. This gives her an age gain of 11 years in the past 10 years. This is very close and should be consisdered near accurate. Then, in the 1870 census for Olive Township, Noble County, Ohio her age is given as 47. Still very close. Then in the 1880 census for Noble Township, Noble County, Ohio she gives her age as 58. She is gaining about 11 years between each census. Then, in 1920 she is listed in the household of her widowed daughter Nancy Gill in Falls Township, Muskingum County, Ohio as being 110 years old. This gives her an age gain of 85 years in the 70 year span of these census records.

So, how old was she?
