Subject: Book: 82nd Airborne in Operationa Market-Garden

Hello all,

A little while ago, Peter Hendrikx approached me asking for help to compile his new pictorial history about the 82nd Airborne Division in the Holland campaign. The book will be as good as the contributions by individual collectors who make photographs available, which is why I pass his request on to all of you.

Frits Janssen

Dear fellow airborne adepts and collectors.

Michel De Trez and I, Peter Hendrikx, wrote the definite pictorial history of the 101st Airborne Division in the Holland campaign. With over 750 pages and more than 1.250 original photos we are proud of the final results to keep the history of the 101st alive. Check out our website at www.d-day-publishing.com

The other good news is we also took it upon ourselves to write the definite pictorial history of the 82nd Airborne Division in the Holland campaign, titled “Burning Bridges”. I solicited Frits’ help to uncover many of the unknown photographs of the 82nd Airborne in the Holland campaign because aiming for the definite and most complete pictorial, we need the help of all 82nd Airborne collectors and historians.

So my question to you is if you want to consider sharing your 82nd Airborne Division in Holland photos with us for the purpose of this book. This is a great opportunity to make sure unique photos are no longer kept in obscurity in private collections, but are shared for all to see for many years to come. There is no better way to honor the paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division than to have their photos and stories recorded in what will be the definite pictorial history book of the 82nd in Holland. Of course full credit will be given.

Also, if you have identified collectibles, equipment, paperwork or uniforms relating to the 82nd in Holland we are also very interested to hear from you.

So please consider sharing your photographs or collectibles to honor the paratroopers of the 82nd Airborne Division in what will be the definite pictorial history of their Holland campaign. With your contribution the book will be as complete as possible. I look forward to hear from you with great interest!

Airborne All the Way!!

Peter Hendrikx
