I am not familiar with the marking you mention but can contribute this

The 3/505th had a small black cannon ball painted on their helmets during Normandy. I do not have any evidence that the use of such symbols was universal throught the battalion.

A small winged shoe or foot was used by the 507th.

As I said the tactical marings on helmets when used by organizations in the 82nd tended to be small and not composed of bright colors.

They were also painted and not decals.

Somewhere I have notes on these but need to find them.

When I do I will post them here
