They had a "peace camp" set up in Terry Shrunk Plaza here in Portland which was closed today at 16:00 by federal autorities. The reaction of the protesters? They moved to another location in the Park Blocks in downtown Portland.

They say the protesters need a place to sleep. but camping in a city park is illegal. The city is doing nothing about this and therein lies the problem.

These folks are breaking the law and are not being punished for it. If they had to pay real consequences for their actions a lot of them would change their tune real quick.

I don't know about Seattle but I can tell you that Portland is run by a Kabal of 18 ex hippy/peacenic types who beleive that all creatures are equal but protesters are more equal than others. As long as this attitude is kept their will be an open invitation to every freak and wierdo to come to portland and protest for any fringe cause. A lot of the folks protesting and organizing here are not residents of the area.

As for this being a situation unique to the Pacific Northwest; It is not. They are using the same tactics in California and Chicago that I know of.

The threats against federal property have without a doubt summoned the attention of the federal government and I beleive it is only a matter of time before the "Office of Homeland Security" steps in and does something about this situation.

I have a friend who owns a hotel in Downtown Portland and I am seriously thinking of volunteering my time to act as security there on Tuesday Morning.
