Sam,
I agree that these people have all the right in the world to protest...UP TO the limit where it hinders others. Just because they fell their "message" hasn't been heard (and in the Pac Northwest, it's the ONLY message you hear), they can do anything darned thing they want and get away with it. Frankly, I'm sick to death of it.
My wife's Grandfather said it best to me yesterday, "Why don't they just break out the fire hoses on these people?"
Beats me. It's not violent, doesn't harm people chemically like riot control gasses or pepper spray, and it just makes people miserable and makes them go home to dry and warm up.
I just dont get what they think they're accomplishing here. The war is ON, and a bunch of "Lola Granola" types are NOT going to accomplish anything by blocking off highways and singing "Give peace a chance."
They missed the 60s, just like most of us missed the 40s. I can relate to that part.
That's the ONLY thing I can relate to, though.
Protesting in the Northwest US has turned into some sort of daily activity out here, and every group has to "top" previous demonstrations so that the word makes the news. And the cops do NOTHING to hinder it. I'm glad I'm not a cop, I'd have used a nightstick on someone by now...
Lee
