Subject: BC-611 parts repro

Gents,
I got a BC-721A recently that was missing some parts, and I was advised that a guy in TX has repro parts for BCs. I swapped e-mails with him for a while, determined he knew his stuff, and threw caution to the wind and ordered eveything that it was missing.
I ordered an antenna cover and chain, a new antenna and that screw nut that holds the battery compartment lid at the bottom
This afternoon, I got the box of parts...
HOLY CRAP! This guy makes dead on stuff! The antenna cover was OD crinkle finish, and the chain was an exact match, even included the screw! The only thing was it was aluminum, and I thought the real ones weren't made from that, but that's just nitpicking. This guy has his stuff figured out!
The antenna just dropped right in, another dead-on repro, only his was black. Not sure of that's right, but everything else was! Even the locking nut for the battery case was correct. He includes the screw base as well, in case yours is broken off (all you need to do is punch it in, but I removed the nut and put it on the one already there, I wanted to use as much original stuff as possible).
It took less than 5 minutes with just a set of good screwdrivers and vice grips.
The only problem is he only made the antenna covers for the earlier (flat topped) style, which was correct for mine, but wouldn't be right for a BC-611E or F, which is most of the talkies still out there today...

Here's his info:

I've already recommended to Sam that Robert be listed as a heartily approved vendor for WW2 handlie talkie parts on his site. I'm sure Sam will agree when you all see what my radio looks like when we get together at Ft Lewis in May!
Lee
