Subject: Donations

Has anybody ever heard of a government program where you can get sponsored to do reenacting or private organizations that make donations of gear or funds. This sounds stupid and I'm embarrased to say, but I'm extremely interested in reenacting but just don't have the money for the gear. I've heard of stranger government programs and private sector contributions and was just curious.
