Subject: M1918 knuckle knife mod?

I have a repro M1918 knuckle knife on the way, and want to grind the sides of the hilt down to fit in the M-6 scabard. I've seen one in private hands and one in a museum done this way, but I don't remember sepcifically how it looked. Other than just squaring off the rounded sides, does anyone have pics of an original modified for
me to look at?
