yes. you could say that

his deep set orbs flashed in memory, and his ego flared as he pulled himself higher, then faltered and the slouch in his shoulders and blank expression on his countenancedisplayed easily who the victor had not been.
In an attempt to distract himself he looked again around the circle, skipping the eyes this time and settled his gaze back on the mare, the stranger.
