My Answers to Random Linnit Quiz 001
1. When you’re all alone at home… do you still close the bathroom door before you sit down / stand to pee?

Yes. Maybe it’s paranoia, but my bathroom door faces the top of the hallway and stairs and maybe, just maybe…

2. Jane Epenson does a re-write of Intervention, Episode 18, Season Five (that’s the one where the Scoobies mistake the Buffybot for the Buffster and Glory does a number on Spike). Bette Middler is written-in as a family member… whose family member and how does she affect the story?

Jane saw the flaw in her episode as soon as I pointed it out to her (in my dreams while I was sitting on the loo, alone in the house, watching the door and plotting the re-write of Intervention…) Ms Middler is the GloryBot and Glory’s alter ego. She arrives just before Spike manages to taunt Glory into whacking him hard enough to break him free of the chains he’s hanging from. GloryBotBette pack a punch and beats the tar out of Glory, hurls her into the lift shaft where waiting at the bottom is a very pi**ed off Buffy. While Buffy beat some more on a weakened Glory, GloryBotBette takes her wicked pleasure of a weak but very grateful and well-hung Spike (HEY! He’s still hanging from the ceiling, you dirty minded husseys!)

3. Truth now… have you ever gotten fluff out of your bellybutton?

No. but I have had occasion to espy traces of the stuff in Spouse of Linnit’s middle regions!

4. Select one or more BtVS / AtS character that you’d like to cast in one of these shows and explain why they are a great fit:
a. Battlestar Glactica (or as miniLinnit used to call it, “Star Wars Balaptica”)
b. Extreme Makeover, Home Edition

Actually, Mine choice here is a bit of a cheat… rather than have one of our characters joining one of those shows, instead I’d love to have Ty and the team arrive in Sunnydale and makeover the Hellmouth!

c. Friends
d. Malcolm In The Middle
5. Has America ever had an Autumn or has it always been Fall?

I don’t know. I just know that over the past couple of years I’ve gotten really in to Historical Romance fiction written mainly by American authors but set in England and, whilst they all endeavour to (very broadly) write in period, they invariably never change a number of very un-English words that are neither period correct or even current shared words across the international divide. Words like: Fall (as in Autumn); block (as in streets/roads); guess (as in suppose); dollar (as in pound) etc. etc. But, Fall, had me wondering whether Americans had ever used to call Autumn, Autumn… …

6. Deal… or No Deal?

NO DEAL – the show makes me cringe!

7. TeenLinnit has grown up in the past couple of years and she's now LivingWithHerBoyfriendLinnit. She and BoyfriendOfLivingWithHerBoyfriendLinnit have very sensibly decided to defer production of their branch of the Linnit tree for many years to come and have instead adopted three very ugly by very lovable English Bulldogs – Tillie, Wilbury and William. What pet(s) would you adopt?

We’ve adopted EldestBoyLinnit’s cat. Her name is Dog and we love her dearly. So much easier to have a conversation with than the LinnitSprogs or Spouse!

8. Has anyone seen Brendan?

He never pined away when I left, did he?…

9. They say that the size of a man’s feet/nose/hands is an indication of the size of his manhood. *NO, Kashy, I do not know who ‘They’ are!*. Who do you think has the biggest/littlest appendages of each cast – BtVS & AtS?

Angel has big hands and Oz had big ears! BUT… Spike had a very BIG coat! And, Spouse always tells me that the best things always come in small packages……

10. “BtVS was a poor example to the viewing youth of family unity.” Discuss.

I agree. There wasn’t one single nuclear, happy family in the whole series. I always thought that Joss spoke volumes with that… And, I always thought that there should have been an independent variable in there. You know, so that there was one character who, if anything, looked out of place because everyone else’s life was mixed up. For a short time, I’d hoped that Willow’s was going to be the one. Then, Cordelia. Then, Oz. But every time the show seemed to scream, “No hope! Abandon all hope of the existence of the concept of a happy family all ye who view here!” A sad flaw in an otherwise great cult series, methinks, still.

1. When you’re all alone at home… do you still close the bathroom door before you sit down / stand to pee?

---Nope. I don't even close the bathroom door when I shower; it makes the mirrors less steamy when I'm done.

2. Jane Epenson does a re-write of Intervention, Episode 18, Season Five (that’s the one where the Scoobies mistake the Buffybot for the Buffster and Glory does a number on Spike). Bette Middler is written-in as a family member… whose family member and how does she affect the story?

---She's Willow's wacky aunt, visiting from New York. She's not taking the aging process well, and hilariously tries a little too hard to fit in with Willow and her friends at places like the Bronze.

3. Truth now… have you ever gotten fluff out of your bellybutton?

---Haha, not that I can recall.

4. Select a BtVS / AtS character that you’d like to cast in one of these shows and explain why they are a great fit:

a. Battlestar Glactica (or as miniLinnit used to call it, “Star Wars Balaptica”)

---Higher-being Cordelia, to resolve the "God did it" ending.

b. Extreme Makeover, Home Edition

---Xander. That show is all about taking unsung heroes and celebrating them.

c. Friends

---Anya. She could work her vengeance demon magic on Ross on behalf of Rachel.

d. Malcolm In The Middle

---Dawn, probably, since she's the only character that I can even remotely imagine being in those characters' lives.

5. Has America ever had an Autumn or has it always been Fall?

---I honestly couldn't tell you.

6. Deal… or No Deal?

---Deal!

7. TeenLinnit is now a LivingWithHerBoyfriendLinnit and she and BoyfriendOfLivingWithHerBoyfriendLinnit have very sensibly decided to defer production of their branch of the Linnit tree for many years to come and have instead adopted three very ugly by very lovable English Bulldogs – Tillie, Wilbury and William. What pet(s) would you adopt?

---My roommates have two dogs, one of which seems to adore me. That's enough for me.

8. Has anyone seen Brendan?

---Who?

9. They say that the size of a man’s feet/nose/hands is an indication of the size of his manhood. *NO, Kashy, I do not know who ‘They’ are!*. Who do you think has the biggest/littlest appendages of each cast – BtVS & AtS?

---I'm pretty sure Marc Blucas (Riley) is the biggest guy they've had on the show. Seth Green is on the other end of the spectrum. As for how that speaks for how... gifted they are, I'm sure that only their hairdressers know for sure.

10. “BtVS was a poor example to the viewing youth of family unity.” Discuss.

---I absolutely disagree. Maybe their parents aren't all still married, and their romantic entanglements have been overly tangly, but these characters built a very solid family unit with Buffy herself as the matriarch, and despite a few missteps along the way they have essentially all remained true to that family. Hell, Buffy herself literally died for her sister. BtVS is a fantastic example of family unity.

[> [> I had thought of Giles taking over as Manager in the supermarket! -- ChrissieLinnit, 07:03:50 08/26/09 Wed [1] (217.42.33.5)

... Giles as Malcolm's mom's boss, might have caused some serious work romance!

And Anya could have worked at the ranch with Malcolm's big brother!

I like your perspective of the Scoobies as the representation of family in the series and I sort of understand your argument. But I would see that as friendship and survival through adversity rather than biological love and nurture that is there before, during and after.
