Subject: Chosen - A few questions, opinions and thoughts (Spoilery for last eps)

So, all in all I was amazed with Chosen, it shocked me, saddened me and surprised me - Sometimes all at once!
I thought the ending was pretty fitting and left it open for spinoffs to be picked up for, well numerous characters.

Now, for the questions, opinions and wonderings.
1) The biggest thing that upset me was Anya's death, In a whole it was unneeded, and extremely fast and brutal! She got sliced from her shoulder through to her gut, In one fast scene that lasted all of 5seconds - Now this scene gave me a whole lot of love for the Anya character, one of which I've never been a favourite of.
I felt she should of had a more, maybe dramatic or emotional death - Or none at all!

2) The whole Cookie dough thing! Sorta well crafted, but not that good of a analogy - But hey, Willow said it ! She aint that smart.

3) Willow going all Goddess was kinda cool, made me feel that her series arc had closed up nicely - She has come to accept her powers and not be afraid of them! She took control.
And well the phrase "That was nifty" totally cracked me up! It was absolutely hilarious!
And now the white hair! Not a great look, but at least its not permanent.

4) The potentials forfilling their potential and becoming slayers! This whole thing really impressed me actually, It was done craftily and smooth - After sitting through another one of Buffys more emotional speeches we saw younger girls also obtaining the power! But question, Why wernt they killed or brang to Sunnydale? Guess maybe The First thought they wernt a threat, or maybe they couldnt find them!

5) Xander & Dawn, Anya & Andrew, Giles & Wood
Okay, so I can see the Giles & Wood pairing off to guard the main exit, But why Anya & Andrew? Why not place a few Potentials (Or rather slayers) with them?
and now also, how on earth could Anya & Andrew take out numerous Ubervamps and Bringers when Buffy had such a hard time taking on one without the Scythe.

6) Potential Forfilled!
Now, Vi was it.
All of a sudden in this episode she became much mroe of a central Potential (or rather slayer), She became more Vocal, more active in some ways. I felt she rocked in this episode! She was brought to life with all the kicking, punching and caining @$$ that could be delt out.
Now, Kennedy is it.
She was much more of just 'being there' through the start of this episode, but She was great in the last quarter! She threw a Ubervamp into a cavern roof spike, which was just too cool!
Now, Rona.
Rona was quiet this episode, and fought with dignity even though she was down an arm! When she had ahold of the Scythe she used it like it belonged to her - and in a way it does.
Now, Poor Amanda.
Not much from Amanda here, but she did go wild at an ubervamp and that looked cool. Unfortunate that she died, But I guess a main Potential being killed gives it reality, showing that they arnt just going to kill the Cannon Fodder!
Lastly, Chao-Ann
Now, Not alot from her at all. Im not sure if she died or not. I spotted to Chinesse girls - One was bitten by an Ubervamp and killed, the other was using an pole axe to dispose of the Ubervamps. Which one was Chao-Ann, I dont know.

7) Caleb and The First
Well, Caleb's death was gruesome from the sound of it - and Buffy's banter about him "splitting" was actually quite humerous. The Darkened Blood was great! I would of liked to know a tad more about him, But it wasnt a must have.
Well, It would of been great if we could of seen The First admit defeat and go back to the way of things - Even though now with all of the slayers around the world im sure The First will try again - Remember, there are other Hellmouths!

8) Sunnydale no more
Well, that was one very impressive scene. It also made me see how small Sunnydale literally is - Considering how fast the Bus got out of town, it looked very impressive and cool! Kudos!

9) Faith
Faith was great to have back, nothing really to complain about with her at all! Her and Wood is kinda cool, but also not cool at the same time.
She was "Rock'em sock'em" throughout this episode, She looked all buffed up and strong and played homage to her Character from the earlier seasons well. I was impressed when she weilded the Scythe and dispatched the Ubervamps nicely.

10) Buffy
Well now Buffy was very, very awesome in this episode. I thought she took the whole game to another level (Literally). SMG showed me how good of an actress she is and made me love her even more.
She suited the Scythe imensly and lead the slayers well, but she did need to defend herself when giving orders! or at least stand with her back to a wall! When she told The First to get out of her face that was sweet, The roof jumping was sweet and her smile at the end just made me jump with glee!

Overall Great Ending to a Great Series.

For all the good times, all the bad times,
Heres to the cast and crew of Buffy, Cheers.

Hey, cool post. I agree with all your points there. It had a few flaws as an episode, but nothing to spoil it from being one of the most enjoyable experiences of watching Buffy. Surely a kick-ass finale :-)

I agree about Anya's death. I think it needed just something more to make it more significant. I know its all about how war can affect anyone (specially if they're not going to reprise their character), but a little more emotion out of it was nice.

Also agree about the cookie analogy, not the greatest - although I think Joss is better at one liners, rather than his tendency to get self-conciously cutesy about certain elements. But that part was acted and directed nicely, and I'm not sure we weren't supposed to think it wasnt the greatest analogy.

Agree with all your other points.
