Subject: it was the best of times...(spoilers for 22)
...and, well, you know the other part...
Well, I stopped by *very* briefly last night but then had to go to bed (hey, when the alarm rings at 5:30 a.m.!), and I haven't been able to access a whole lot of messages (damn voy, not to mention the ancient and slow computer I have at work...), but here are some random thoughts, observations, and questions about the finale. *Please do* respond if you've got answers or just want to agree or disagree...I've been proctoring exams all morning and need to finally talk to you guys about this!!
Okay, in no particular order:
1. Anya's death was brutal, too brief, and too glossed over, but I thought that Xander's comment about his girl always doing the stupid thing was in character...However, a bit more grieving overall would've helped *me* deal with it alot more
2. Spike...footwear/shoe anvils *everywhere*...I think Minnear knows *exactly* how they're bringing him over to Angel next year! (And may I just say "woohoo"?)
3. Spike's line about actually being able to feel his soul was beautiful! Made me cry...
4. When the "troops" were being led back into the high school by Wood, it was daytime, no? So, how was it that Spike was there? Did I miss something, and was he already in the building?
5. I cannot believe that the man who brought us the brilliance of OMWF, the Gift, Hush, etc. also brought us the cookie dough speech! blech.
6. That said, at least there were some obvious nods to various factions during that whole Buffy/Angel dialogue...I especially enjoyed the whole "well I had a soul first" bit...made me laugh.
7. Hubby commented on "the core four" when they briefly re-grouped in the high school (this means that he liked it ;-)
8. Personal note to Halcyon...where are you chica? Are you alright? e-mail me so I can stop worrying...
Well, that's about all I've got time for, for now (back to work, as they say)...looking forward to hearing your thoughts...

Last night I ranted and raved about what I saw on TV, and I was so upset that it was all ending that I think it colored my perception, but just a bit :). After reading some wonderful posts at several different boards, I do have to say that most of what I saw last night was good, and right, and would they just come back and do the movie right now? :)
Oh, and wasn't it great that Buffy got her fire? Definitely a baked cookie now. But that whole metaphor is still an odd choice to me. I just keep imagining the Pillsbury Dough Boy with Buffy's face, giggling. Now that's enough to give anyone a nightmare!

I tried to post in the GM thread on the Alpha board, but I kept being denied. Things were pretty ranty at my place last night, but it's amazing what some sleep, daylight, and other people's positive views on the finale can do. Plus, it did help to re-watch the ending, which made me pretty happy and hopeful. So, I'm pretty good.
Congrats to your son on getting the callback! That's really neat. When will you know for certain if he gets it or not? I have to say the waiting is always the worst, for anything.

I just talked to the lady from Nickolodeon and she told me that they got 1000's and 1000's of tapes and they only chose 50 children for the second callback. What an honor! I am so excited for him. He has to do a second tape this weekend and send it in next week. I really don't expect him to be chosen but it was quite an honor to get a callback so thanks for the congratulations.
As far as Buffy goes, I watched the finale really late - like quarter of twelve and was so very tired. Plus psyhed over the Nick call so I really just focused on the things I liked. Just kept telling myself in the Spike scene - its okay, he's on Angel, it's okay. There were certainly many things I didn't like, but I do feel that Josh did certain things right. The scoobies in the hallway for instance, Giles as we know and love him, Spike and the punching bag. Angel sure sounded off, very different than when he's on his own show. I liked what Ancientpeas wrote though that the three who took it on the chin last year - Spike, Buffy and Willow were this year's heros. I like that!
