Subject: The Final Hours Are Upon Us (long)

It is almost hard to believe. These are the last hours before the final episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer". In just a few hours, all the waiting will be over.

I wanted to take this opportunity to look back and make my final comments on the show, before it is over. This post is a little personal, but mostly just a "Farewell", and "Thanks" to the show.

My first episode of the show was "The Puppet Show" which I caught during reruns. Like so many others, I misjudged the show at first, assuming that a show called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" would never be anything worth watching. I'm not going to lie to you. I thought the show was a cartoon at first, before I had actually seen it. And one night I decided to sit down and watch an episode. I watched only half and hour, because I had to leave, but I didn't want to leave after seeing that first half hour. I was hooked. I have been hooked on the show ever since. For seven years (or six and a half, whatever you prefer), I followed the show, goingf along for the ride, watching as Buffy sent her love Angel to hell, watched as the entire school banded together to fight the Mayor at Graduation, watched as they all dreamed their worst nightmares, as Dawn made her first appearance, as Joyce died, as Buffy sacrificed herself to spare Dawn, and save the world, as she returned from the grave, as Willow went evil with black magic, and now, as Buffy fights her final battle with the First Evil. We all have watched over the years, as the characters grew and lived in the Buffyverse. We were there in the beginning and now we are almost at the end, to quote the Shadow Men.

It was late Season Five when I found this board and the great community which was within. At first, I lurked, reading the posts, spoilers, and amazing discussions which went on in this board. It was season six when I made my first post. I love it here. I believe, like most of you, that I will continue to come here, even after the show is long over. We all will, because there will always be something to talk about. People are still debating over the Cheese Man from "Restless". What other show has left that kind of effect on people?

I have recieved help from a lot of you over the years, and I thank you all for that. The speculation that I posted here wasn't always correct, but I was having fun. That is the best part about the board. You can just have fun. Even in Season Seven when I decided to give up spoilers, I continued to come here. I was able tro give up spoilers, but i couldn't give up this board. I have Angel X to thank for this board, and everyone here who populates it, lurkers and posters alike.

Of course, I can not leave Joss Whedon and the cast and crew of "Buffy" out of this post. A major thanks to them as well. Without Joss and everyone else, none of us would be here. I think we all can agree that Joss is a genus and I thank him for the best seven years of my life.

Whether we agreed with the plot twists, or wished that things had turned out differently, we were there for the show. We are the true fans. We felt for the characters as if they were our own friends. There was something special about this show, something which separated it from all the other shows. I still remember when I got through to my mom that this wasn't **just a show**. There was more to it than that. It was about growing up, "girl power" and human experience. It is a very intellectual show which some people just don't understand. But you don't have to understand that to love this show. Who would have thought that we would be getting psychology lessons from a TV show, and no less, from one called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer".

And now, here we are, only hours until Buffy takes her final bow. It has been quite a ride, not always easy and pleasant. There has been heartbreak and grief, but also funny and happy, exciting moments. Sometimes all in the same show. And now, the ME monster will give its final "Grrr Arghhh" and then it will be over. Sure, we still have "Angel" now that we know it is coming back for Season Five, but nothing will quite replace this show. And maybe that's a good this. Thhis show will be missed, but it will also be remembered. Twenty years down the line I will still remember the way I felt as I watched Buffy jump into the portal. I will remember how creepy the Gentlemen were and I will always know that lyrics to all the songs in the musical. Plain and simple, I will not forget this show.

And I won't forget this board either, or the people in it. This has been one memorable experience and I am sure none of us will soon forget.
