[> 20 things I loved about Chosen -- Quills, 00:10:02 05/21/03 Wed (64.254.192.243)

I was unspoiled and quite pleased. I was really expecting a bunch of Scooby deaths, and even though it may have been a bit unrealistic for nearly everyone to survive (except Anya and Amanda), I was happy they did. I really even thought Buffy might day for a second there.

Yes, there were a few things that I might liked to have seen that didn't happen, or whatever, but I'm going to focus on the good here, and I think it was certainly mostly good, and I'm just feeling so darn grateful for the show's existence in the first place.

So, to celebrate the finale; among the things I loved:
). -- Willow's "nifty" comment after turning all of the potentials into slayers.

). --The Dungeons & Dragons game the night before the big showdown.

). -- Dawn's belated understanding of Willow's tongue ring comment

). -- Anya's comment to Xander about how she figured he would be the one who was scared & that she would make sarcastic remarks

). -- Xander's "party in my eye socket" happiness upon hearing of Caleb's death

). -- Buffy's realization, in terms of relationships, that she wasn't ready for one with anyone

). -- Spike's reaction to realizing that the amulet is working & something pretty intense is about to happen to him: "Bollucks"

). -- Spike's beautiful humility and acceptance . . . he truly proves himself to be a champion

). -- Spike's drawing of Angel on his punching bag

). -- Spike (hey, are we noticing a theme here?) being honest w/Buffy about his feelings rather than having some big miscommunication, pouting, will her turn evil w/jealousy scernario. Three episodes in a row where these two had open, honest communication! Bravo!

). -- Buffy getting up after the First taunts her about her mortal wound

). -- The scene in the hallway where everyone says goodbye (by not saying goodbye)

). -- Xander asking Andrew about how Anya died and then, through his grief, his pride: "That's my girl."

). -- At the very end . . . Buffy's smile.

). The ending . . . the fact that it really changed the dynamic, leaving it open for spinoffs (Spike, Dawn, Giles, Andrew, Willow — anyone?)

). That, according to Giles, there is another Hellmouth in Ohio

). Willow's quip to Kennedy about Buffy not really being that bright

). Giles' remark about being a musical dwarf during the D & D game

). Andrew's "Oh you silly British man"

). The fight w/the ubervamps . . . pretty intense & cool
