Subject: Faye - he was a stray
In reply to: Faye 's message, "Re: NCBR pup needs mega good thoughts and prayers" on 15:29:27 03/02/07 Fri

found on the streets of Sacramento, CA.
Who knows what happened? But my thought would be he swallowed a Nerf football, which is what the blockage turned out to be, massed together with grass, rocks and sticks. Probably got sicker and sicker, hungrier and hungrier and escaped his home (and I use that term loosely) to find food (which he couldn't keep down because of the blockage).
When he came into the shelter - we were able to get him out the same day.
The vet felt the blockage had been there about 2 weeks. He went into surgery at 27 lbs - came out at 20 lbs.
He seems to be a tough little guy - the vet felt he probably wouldn't make it through surgery but he did and he continues to do well. He's doing well today, is still too weak to stand but has peed and pooed so 'things are working'. The next 72 hours will tell how he's going to do.
You can check his progress on ncbr.org (California)
Keep those prayers coming.
At this point his name is Bunker.
