ALL ABOUT BOXERS MESSAGE BOARD

I have several more pics, as does Lisa. I am trying to get the program I used to resize photos moved from one computer to the other, but I'm not having much luck. Photobucket will do it automatically, but it takes a looooong time to upload them not already resized.

The boys had a great time, as did Miss Bean. She is the sweetest girl, and was really eager to give me kisses. I was thrilled that she wasn't afraid of me. Butler is still tired, but is better than he was yesterday. LOL I don't think he hurt anything, just sore from all the romping and boxing. He's not used to having that much activity. Heck, if I had done the things he and Tony did,
Scott would of had to roll me out of bed.

Will get more pics later - I hope.

I am excited to have Cheryl, Scott and Butler over for a swim party this saturday. our boys have never met and they are after all related!!

we are going to try and get Butler in the pool and see if he and Tony will swim together. I have a nice lunch planned for us and we will just hang out with the kids. I promise to take lots of pictures and some video's of the boxers playing and maybe a few shots of us to:):)

wish us luck that all the kids get along great and that we all have fun.

Cheryl, I forgot to tell you that I am goign to have doggie ice cream sanwhiches for the dogs out by the pool. there made by pedigree and specifically made for dogs and there a HUGE hit!!!!

My sweet girl Tigra left me this morning. It was not like I had imagined her passing would be. It was very awful and my sweet angel suffered terribly. we had to rush her to the vets this morning where she was sent to the bridge. Her heart gave out but she would not give up and there for we had to help her. she had been declining REALLY badly in the past 2 days and I am just so glad yesterday we cuddled and she went to bed with me last night and was the first one up this morning for treats... I loved that girl like no other and she will NEVER be forgotten.

Hey all! Long time no see! I just wanted to drop in and say hello. Things are good - I got a new job... I work at a card club/casino - Marlene may know of it, Garden City Casino? Anyway, I've been there a few months now and though I love it, I'm dead tired when I get home.

Dogs are good - Sugar had surgery (again, on the other knee) about 2 months ago. But they are both happy and doing well.

I need to catch up on everyone's posts!

I am so sorry for your loss. The only thing I can say is Our beautiful old crotchity girl is with her brothers Catcher and Mac. I wish I was there and regret not saying good bye.

Yesterday we had a big ol boxer bash with a couple of the girls from the rescue goup I have joined. It was an absolute hoot. I have to get the photo's for you all as you will not beleive all the boxer babes we had. A total of 11, and they ALL got along famously. it was tooooo cute. they all played in the yard while the adults drank and ate and chatted. the pics we got are to die for cute so look for those later today. Pedigree makes a doggie ice cream sandwhich now, and all the kids got one, it was to funny. there were so many fawns it was hard to tell who is who. Tony was a total doll as usual and loved it but was done by 11pm. he is one filthy boy today. Bean stayed home with her dad and they had a nice time but she howeled and cryed for her brother, I feel so bad for her now that I am always taking tony places, but she is to fearful to go anywhere...
but dad took her for a walk and spoiled her rotten. There s one boxer owned by my friend who who will actually smile on comman. I kid you not. what she does is she shows her bottom K-9'S and does this for a treat. wait until you see this photo, you will crack up......

I hope this works. I picked him up on Sunday and he already acts like he has been home for years. He is a total love bug, loves attention, loves food, loves EBBie and doesn't know any strangers, just friends he hasn't met yet.

So how does this sound? I can bring Tony once he is certified, to the Hospital here in my area to the cancer pediatric ward where there are terminal children and some not terminal but going through treatments and are living temporarily at the facility... I am so thrilled about this as he adores kids and we want to make a difference in the lives of these children whom some are dying. I am still doing my weekly therapy visits at the old fogies home but I would like to work with kids and the program my group offers is where your dog lies down on a bed and the kids read to him. there is no way Tony will lay still on a bed for 30 minutes around autistic children who poke, praud and yank on him, so I thought this would be a nice change of pace for him. ( I can't believe how rough these kids are on dogs, I would NEVER put Tony in that situation but many people do! Apparently this hospital has there own pet therapy clog group with there own set of rules etc. so that is why He will need to be certified on there terms... he is sooooo good that I am not in the least bit worried he won't pass He can handle anything and I mean anything... one time we were at a nursing home for REALLY sick and dying people and this women was screaming and moaning and flapping her arms and kicking, he walked right by here and paid her no attention... except to sniff her crotch where she had just peed on herself. LOL!!! that is my boy, he is so push button and mellow. its like Tony, Turn up the drip boy!!! I always say that to him:):). He is an amazing, SWEET loving guy and loves going to work to see everyone and bring smiles to there faces!!!! I will keep you posted on how he does and if I can get him visiting the kids at the cancer center. I love doing this work and I swear, it makes you feel so good to help others and bring joy to them with your special friend. its not a lot of work at all and its only a twice a month commitment for 45 minutes...But I choose to go weekly. is anyone interested in doing this work? I would love to help you if your interested. I have posted my e mail for those that may need it. I know Mack Gardner would be an incredible therapy dog. regardless of his arthritis, licking or jumping, you control him with a 4ft leash and he learns how not to jump on people I am sure at his age he is passed that jumping stage right and he is trained pretty good to know Off right:):):) , and if you go to an assisted living place, there not frail people like at a hospice center or a nursing home, some people where I go want him in there laps so these people are not little itty bitty breakable people cuz they really live on there own they just have meals prepared for them and watch over them, they have there own mini studios... I know Mack and Lulu would be such good therapy dogs... one at a time though... you would be surprised, they learn how to not jump or be rough on these people, and you are RIGHT there all the time to make sure your dog is behaving the way you want him to be. Plus they have an insurance policy so if anything were to happen, you ARE covered 100%! I would love to see other boxers doing this work with me... its so rewarding and wonderful.. I know I am sounding preachy but its just so cool and wanted to share my enthusiasm with others.

Today BJ'S Ophelia was sent to the rainbow bridge in her home surrounded by lots of love from her mother... she was sent to join all our wonderful never forgotten fur kids. I am so sorry BJ, you gave that girl your all and she had a wonderful home and life with you. May she smile down on you and always remember the love and friendship you shared. I am so sorry for your loss, she was a love, and we will all miss her.. and we will miss hearing about what a great ol gal she was, tears for you.

I Just thought I would post about my new boyfriend named Taz!

I met Taz at the past couple of boxer pet fairs I have done through boxer rescue. I really fell head over heals for this guy the first time I met him.

He has a personality similar to my Tony, mellow, laid back, sweet and a big kissy face laid back guy.

unfortunately he was dumped off at a high kill shelter on Valentines day last year and that is why his new name is Valentino but his real name is Taz, according to the owner surrender paper work.

He was hours away from being killed as no one claimed him at the shelter and no one wanted to adopt him. He has a VERY BAD under bite which causes his tongue to hang out of his mouth most of the time but it does not stop him from playing and eating and being a normal happy boxer. You can only imagine what its like to see him drink water though. Oh man, its a HUGE MESS.

Well I have become friendly with his foster mom and she has been bringing him over for play dates and letting him get a bit of doggie and people socialization as he has separation anxiety since he was dumped at a shelter and is a little shy of new people but really loves coming to my house. he is fearful of things and being left alone as you can tell he has been abused. He has come a LONG way and my crew all like him and he hangs out here and just loves it. he is so wonderful and his favorite spot to lay is under my desk. I sent pics out to a few of you and everyone agrees, he is as cute as can be. There is something about him that I love AND ITS making me crazy. I HAVE begged and begged for my hubby to let me adopt him but he is saying a big FAT NO..NO, NO.... I am really, really in love with him and its so hard, but for now he is spending time with us and I will have him this weekend..... you can see him here, under Valentino. he is beyond a gentleman and I am in love. He has not had many people interested in adopting him, and everyone that has shown interest commits to adopting him and than for some reason or another each home falls through, so he is still waiting for HIS forever home. I sooooo wish it could be my home but its not looking good. BOO-HOO. you can see him here and read his story. He was Heart worm positive but now is clear and is healthy and ready to go to his forever home He loves Tony and they play and play and chop chew like mad. I wish it was my home but I know my hubby won't allow it. maybe some hard praying and some good vibes from you all couldn't help me???????????

Greta crossed the bridge at 11:35 today. She fought, boy did she fight. I requested a sedative first and still she fought. Made it harder for me. I have her collar hanging in my car and she should be home again in about a week. Rest well my sweet girl. I will love you forever.

Tiger woke up in a great mood, snuggled with his mommy in bed, ate a great breakfast, played with a couple of his birthday surprises and gave Ellie a run for her money when she kept trying to snatch the toys. I had to go out for a couple of hours this afternoon and when I got home, Tiger had taken a nap and not gotten up. Ellie met me at the door and led me straight to him. He went to the vet�s office to be cremated [the vet is making a special trip � I want to clone him].

Ellie is currently sticking to me like glue. This is the first time she has ever been the only boxer [somehow the C.A.T.S. just aren�t the same]. I have spoken to a friend of mine in rescue and she assures me that the perfect boxer son will be found quickly.

Tiger introduced me to boxers, and has left a Mack truck sized hole in my heart. I can�t believe he is gone. I have to go for now � I am having trouble typing through the tears.

I took Lulu for a walk this morning and took the car (so we could drive to a cooler place - it's HOT here).
We do our thing, we're about a block from home and I see the Big Guy walking Mack. Hot on Mack's heels are 3 white dustmops. I stopped the car, yelled at Vern to stop (as they were close to a very busy street) and approached the flying dustmops. They came right to me and I gathered up an armful and put them in the van (Lulu thought that was wayyyy cool) where they thought they should terrorize Lulabelle. After I gave the Big Guy a piece of my mind for not doing anything....I found the tags on the 3 little guys and found their home. Nobody home - back gate open. I put them in their yard, made sure the gate was closed securely and told the neighbors on each side what happened. Boy were they cute!!
That's not the end of my saga.......
I drive a couple of blocks and see a young GSD very close to the same busy street looking confused. My first thought was he had been dumped, my immediate second thought was "that's Ace!" He's a young male we often see when walking Mack and Lulu. He's as cute as can be, very playful but is getting bolder and bolder at following us home. He's not quite a year old.
This capture wasn't as easy as he was close to me but in a place I couldn't quickly drive to (a dead end with this very busy street on the other side of the dead-end fence). I had to get on the busy street, make a U-Turn, park and chase him down as he was going under an underpass........I used Lulu for bait. Managed to get two very excited, strong dogs in the van and drove the mile or so to return Ace to his home.
His home backs up to a long stretch of wild area and though his large yard is fenced...but there is NO gate, just an opening. To make it worse I was told "yeah, his brother got hit on the other road in front of the house" (another very busy street).
The family wasn't home but I talked with someone working in the yard and told him "TELL THEM TO GATE THAT BACK YARD!!!"
Harumphh and grrrrrrr.

We have several nice places to walk dogs adjacent to the place we live. However you have to go through a gate (manned by a guard from 9 - 6). There are 3 of these fellows, all very nice, friendly and good to our dogs.
One fellow..........is making me crazy!! I can't get through the gate (coming and going) without him giving the dogs a treat. He just keeps escalating it, from 1 small one to 5-6 small ones to bigger ones. This morning he had one of those breakfast pancake-sandwich-thingies from McDonalds. He wanted to give Mack 1/2 and Lulu 1/2. I tried to be nice and said "well, OK, but just a small bite...." He gave each of them 1/2!! This is right after they had a breakfast of kibble, oatmeal with dried blueberries and a dollop of yogurt.
I walked away trying to laugh about it but was fuming on my walk. The whole way I was practicing my "lecture". As we came through the gate again, being offered more treats I asked Joe if I could help him understand why I'm so paranoid about the dogs, what they eat and their weight....Lulu 101.
I explained how Lulu has no 'elbow' joints - it's bone on bone, supported by a heavy build up of arthritic changes. Her wrists turn out like a duck and take the brunt of supporting her front weight - they are also fused with arthritis. If I lift her foot to remove a sticker - I can hear the joint grinding in there. Her entired spine is full of more arthritic bridging (spondylosis). Not to mention the hip displaysia.......
I told him how I prepare homemade food for them, measure everything and spend a fortune on supplements as well as daily pain med for Lulu and Mack when he needs it. Stressed that the pain they have is FROM arthritis and we work hard to keep their weight down as well as give moderate exercise to build muscle to support their aching joints.
He was sympathetic and when I explained "one would not put a hiking pack on this dog, fill it with weights and take her for a walk...........would one?" I also tried to make him see it's not the "food" they love so much as the attention, the pets they get along with and schmoozing with hooman beans.
He listened and said he understood (the man is wracked w/arthritis and probably 100 lbs overweight). He told me how he loved them.....and I know he does - let's just try to not show it with food but rather affection and attention.
Ok.......guess I feel better after my rant.

The Finnman (5 year old male), has two little bumps on the underside of his nub (tail). One of these bumps has suddenly swollen way up to the size of the end of my pinkie. What are these nubs? These aren't the anal glands are they? Is this serious, should he go to the vet?

First I'd like to thank everyone for their kind words and thoughts for my Greta girl. She is, to my eyes, going down hill very quickly. I need to start making plans but can't very well call the vet at 1 a.m. to ask questions - and I'm not sure I'm ready to ask them anyway. Can someone give me an idea of the cost of private cremation? My husband's family doesn't believe in cremation of pets and I refuse, when the time comes, to leave my girl. I'm looking for an idea of how much I need to put away of my own $ to cover the expenses when the time comes. Greta is a little girl and doesn't weigh over 50 pounds.

The news is not good. She was to the vet who says that since last week she has gone downhill and is getting very tired. Her back legs just do not hold her up. She is getting pain medicine and is still interested in what is going on in the neighborhood. She loves the acupuncture. Really likes to go for it and is so relaxed by it. She is such a grand lady it is hard to see her get so old and tired.
Good news is I am now a great grandmother of a little girl.
