Subject: Silver, I saw Hidalgo today **spoilicious**...

While I wouldn't say it was anything *great*, it was a good way to spend an afternoon. I just went by myself (due to the fact that I was about the only person who wanted to see it). I told you that when I first saw a preview for it I was like, "Poor Viggo, he's in the best triligy ever then reduced to starring in some average flick.". Well, while I thought the movie was just above average (it still beats alot of what I saw at the theatre last year), I don't feel sorry for him starring it...well, okay, maybe just a little. If only he'd gone from one hugely successful movie to another hugely successful movie. But oh well, like I said, this wasn't *too* bad. I just didn't think it was great.

But I can't fault him for taking on a role as a guy who cares so much about his horse. As you may or may not know (we my info on the 'about us' section of the IS!) I hate anyone who intentionally hurts an animal (heck, I even dislike some ppl who unintentionally hurt an animal) but his character was so protective of his horse, Hidalgo, that basically nothing was gonna make me *dislike* the guy. Tho towards the end I *really* did think he was going to shoot the poor thing (I mean, it *was* impaled and cut into with a knife!) but alas he didn't. Tho many other horses of course perished during the race (we got to see a couple, which I wasn't too happy about) but my favourite part of the film has to be the end when he lets Hidalgo free and the shot of him (the horse) joining all the other horses I did find a sad moment (I actually had to keep reminding myself that it's also a *happy* moment. Hiadlo's joining his kind) but nevertheless that shot just made the whole moment wondeful imho (I sound weepy don't I?).

Overall the cinematography/atmosphere of the film was what I liked most about it. Just the scenery and stuff like that. I love the fact Hidalgo got almost as many close-ups as Viggo - he deserved it! (the horse). So, while it wasn't anything revolutionary, it was a fun romp and best of all, there were only like maybe, I dunno, 8 ppl in the theatre and I was the second peson in so therefore was able to pick the exact seat I wanted (which was right in the middle of a row that wasn't too close to the screen) and to top it off, most of the folks seeing the movie were older ppl and (most) of 'em didn't talk/make noise/have mobile phones ring throughout the picture. *sigh* If only ALL audiences were like this when I went to the movies (maybe I'd go to the movies more often;)
