My reaction was pretty much the same as yours -- support the goddamned baby's head; pretty useless doing that at such an early age; and, if you must insist on exposing your child to a death machine at the age of one month, then do it, but not as part of your frigging show. Sigh.

(Heh, the current poll question on ninemsn is "Does Steve Irwin deserve his Australian of the Year nomination?".)
