In reply to: b 's message, "Cool. Could you point me to some of the best Scape fics?" on 19:54:51 02/19/03 Wed

Excellent.

'Scape ficdom is really small, which is both good and bad -- good, because it's easy to find the best fic, and bad, because, well, there isn't much of it. (Duh.)

The best archive is definitely Leviathan (if the link doesn't work, just go here). 99% of the best authors post there. There are some "meh" fics about, but none of them descend anywhere near BabyMimi status, so it shouldn't be a problem. There hasn't been a huge amount of good stuff of late, because most of the best authors are busy with Save Farscape type stuff and/or real life committments, but there's been some good fic lately. (Also, I'm behind on fic, since I'm actually being good and going spoiler-free until I catch up on the most recent eps (hopefully sometime next week) ).

Some of the best authors on there are Anna S., cofax, Maayan, Fialka, Feldman, David Hearne (for comedy), Andraste, elishavah (whom sil knows vaguely), Shaye, Shrift, Sunshiner, Deneba, orchidcactus, and KoddiakeMax. (Yes, I've probably forgotten some.) I think Maayan would be right down your alley, Bone. Lots of NC-17. ;) (I'm actually not big on her NC-17 sex scenes (or pretty much any NC-17, actually), and her writing style's a little too descriptive for my taste, but a lot of her storylines and characterisations are very good, so I still enjoy reading it a lot.

That's where the bulk of Farscape fic is. The next rung down is probably Kansas, which is where all the people who posted at SciFi's site before the cancellation occurred are now living. (Not literal Kansas. Heh.) Some of them aren't bad (KernilCrash, searose, Sweet Thing (if I remember correctly)), and some of the Leviathan people post there, too. It's very J/A 'shippy over there (which is one of the reasons why I rarely go), and several of the "big" writers there aren't particularly good. It's a bit like a watered-down version of ff.net -- lots of "That was great! Write more!" style feedback. Leviathan tends to be a little more snobby. Which is why I like it. ;) (Pretentious? Moi?)

There's also a few good stories at The Void (a lot of Kansas people post there). Redbeard's and TGUT haven't been updated in absolutely forever, but there are a few good stories there if you dig around.

So, there ya go. I think that covers most of it. A lot of the better authors have their own archives, of course, and I'd also recommend checking out recc sites/archives such as Bright, Shiny Objects, Polyamorous Recs, and Glass Onion (all of which you may have come across, since they're all multi-fandom). Between all that, you should have pretty much everything. It's difficult to find a lot of the older fic (written around s1), though, because most of these sites weren't around then. Some of the recc lists (Polyamorous in particular, IIRC) have links to some of these older stories.

Phew.

Oh, and Doyley, if you're reading this... did you get my e-mail?
