Tony, You are absolutely right in regards to mates! And I don't mean those rubberised things that come in packets of three either! My wife reckons its like eating a sausage roll with the wrapper still on! Joking aside, I too went through a period of time after taking my redundancy and opting for early retirement when depression came into the equation after working perminent nights for so many years. Felt like a mushroom, kept in the dark and fed on it!....
Hell, Now I'm permited to see the daylight and even have some social life now and again! By the way, best of luck with the writing of the memoirs. I never realised how satisfying it is to sit down and put your thoughts and memories down on paper and reflect that perhaps we are not as worthless as we think we are! People are too quick to write us off as has-beens without considering that with our experiences, that we still have a lot to contribute even in this day and age! You will be suprised how much that you do remember. I'm stunned that I can still function with the amount of alcohol consumption that I've put away over the years, but the old grey matter is still giving me plenty to think about. Incontinence and nurses with marigold gloves will have to wait for a few more years before they get their hands on yours truly and thats a fact!.........Speak to you soon, Regards Jim.
