Hi Jimmy, You mentioned that you used to drive an Officer by the name of Rose. Might also be a coincidence but I too drove a Capt Rose, though this one was named Philip and not Peter! I wonder if these two Ruperts were related.....
The father of my Rupert was some Brigadier for what I was told. I drove him for a short period of time while I was with 23 Bty in Lippstadt. He was the Battery's Gun Position Officer. He used to go on exercise with a case of Mars bars and numerous packets of condom's. Perhaps he felt lucky! Whatever!....We on his crew used to stick pins through the bugger's condom's. Don't know if he ever twigged what we were doing but there seems to be a hell of a lot of Roses's knocking about. I can't say that he grew on me!......Excuse the pun,
