Jim, I have to agree a lot with some of your comments BUT BEWARE! a lot of those 'Pads Wives' are still around and attend the reunions. So, keeping that in mind, I would say nothing to the derogation of those sweet, wonderful, ladies and (just in case any are reading this board) Jim started this, not me!!

Seriously though Jim, you are quite right in your observations re 'wives influence on their hubbies promotion prospects' but even more insightful about the 'NAFFIA'. It was one aspect of Pads life in quarters that my wife never got quite used to. She remembers well the sudden, overnight, change in a good friend (who's husband had just got his third stripe) and she, therefore, was no longer condemed to roughing it with us lesser mortals. "Suddenly, her sh*t didn't stink" as my good lady wife put it.
