Tony, That sea cruise was I believe a two-way affair. It was the first and only time that the Regiment as a whole used this method to go to N.Ireland from the Southampton area. I can remember that all the cooks on board were 'Chinks'. This I believe, was the Regiments second tour of the province at that time. I think we went to Long Kesh then to Londonderry for 'Operation Motorman'. I remember coming back from the end of that tour aboard that vessel passing the Isle of Wight in the Solent thinking that I could have swam home from there!...It's amazing how certain things bring back recollections, of incidents and memories of those times of our youth!....Don't you think?........
