Throughout the entire sonnet Shakespeare tells his audience of an unattractive woman with a foul perfum scent. Not until that concluding couplet does Shakespeare tell the reader that she is rare, precious and uncomparable. This mocks traditional sonnet because typically sonnets were written to prove an idol as excessively beautiful and rare, but here, Shakespeare does the opposite.
