The easiest way to find what cyl is missing is to run the engine until the header pipes get hot, the spray each one with a little water from a trigger spray gun, the pipe that don't sizzle the water off is the missing cyl. I bought a 01 that had set forever and it was running only on full choke, found #1 cyl was dead using the water trick, did the seafoam thing, ran the engine until the fan came on and shut it down at a high rpm to "flood the carbs" in seafoam, let it set overnight and repeated for 3 days, did what Doug said and now she runs smooth as silk and never had to pull the carbs off.
