I posted this elsewhere on here but now that I have read these posts here maybe it will help me too. Ok March this year replaced the Alt. the $189 ones on EBAY Notice the batter not wanting to hold a charge So replaced that last week. Riding along last Sat night the machine started to run rough then backfired several times and died. (sound familiar)I tried to restart it and the NEW battery was dead. Now prior to replacing the battery they checked my output voltage and it was 11.4 with the old battery in place it was 12.8 something or more and higher amperage after the new battery was put in. Sorry I do not remember what it was.
I suspected it was the alternator. not charging the battery and it ran til it ran out of juice and miss fired and died. The Alternator does have a one year warren-tee so I guess we replace it again hummm? Oh yes plugs just changed last month. Under 250 miles on them.
