Scroll down about 3/4 of page "Progressive Shock Install" with photos. You wil see the clip (D) You do not have to remove the brass colored plate (plug) in the top of the shock to pull the legs off the XII, but it is easier for some to get the plate out while it is still secured firmly in the triple tree. The shocks being locked in by the bolts for a long period of time tend to have a little corrosion around the collars so as stated twist and lube them a little to get them to move and then slide them down a little and remove (D) clip so they will come the rest of the way. and as I said the air collar hangs free so make sure that you are not pulling that down with the forks you will damage it. It may be a little stuck like the forks just use a little lube and patients.
