Isobel turned and gave Erlic a questioning look when she saw that Jade wasn't with him.

“Jade found the item she had been searching for,” Erlic explained, “and thus had to return the article back to her customer. Perhaps she’ll return, but for now, we’re on our own.”

Isobel thought she detected a hint of sorrow in his voice. It surprised her, though she was not certain why it should. True, he was Frio... and the name fit him well. But she realized he must have some feelings, and apparently he had grown quite close to Jade in the short time she'd been here.

"She had better return," Isobel remarked wryly. "She still has the jade box which she promised to share with me." She hoped her attempt at humor might lift Erlic's spirits a bit.

True to himself, however, Erlic merely went about his work, not mentioning the bald woman or even remarking that he would miss her. One would think, from his demeanor, that the man was simply speaking of the weather rather than a woman with whom Isobel was certain he had shared a bed. Well, that was Frio for you.

Still, she placed a hand on his shoulder and squeezed it softly, hoping he knew she was trying to give him some comfort if he was in need of it.

Erlic did not seem to notice as he examined the door, checking for traps. Apparently there were none, for he opened the door and they entered.

The room was some sort of dining area, with a table and chairs, various cabinets with china and glassware. The table was set as if waiting for diners. It looked clean and free of dust and cobwebs, and the place felt... well, simply lived in. It was obvious that this was not some abandoned area.

Isobel's eyes roamed the room, taking in the tapestries and paintings. She had never before seen some of the gods depicted in the artwork, or did not recognize this aspect of them if she had.

“This seems so out of place, especially down here under the temple,” Erlic remarked. "Someone has sure gone to a lot of trouble to set up this magnificent room.”

Isobel nodded, staying close to Ravin in case his condition was still poor as they moved about the room. Gradually she became aware of some sort of scratching sound. She looked around but could not locate its source. It was evident that the others had heard it, too, for they were looking as puzzled as she felt.

Soon, however, the chairs began to tap on the floor, their legs banging on the hardwood. Isobel's skin prickled and she knew that this place was filled with magic. "The chairs... they are ensorcelled!" She said as she drew her sword.

The tapping continued to grow louder and soon became a cacophany that hurt her ears. The cupboards began swinging open and dishes flew out, bombarding them. Isobel easily knocked them away with her sword, but one shard caught her on her already scratched cheek, causing it to break open and bleed again.

"These objects are possessed!" She gasped as she fended off a gravy boat intent on taking off the top of her head. She only hoped there was no cutlery in the room or they would be in terrible trouble.

"Everyone watch out!" Erlic yelled, and Isobel turned to see what he was shouting about. The chairs were moving toward them slowly but were steadily becoming more animated. A chair attacked Erlic, who damaged it with his exotic sword. She did not have time to see how the battle ended, for suddenly another chair was upon her.

She slashed at it but only succeeded in taking out a few chips and enraging the chair. If you can’t find a blunt weapon,” came Val's voice, “hit it with all the might you’ve got.” Isobel noticed that not all the chairs were anmated, so she sheathed her sword and picked up one of the inanimate chairs, smashing it over the living one until they were both kindling. She then picked up a heavy chair leg and proceeded to club another of the moving chairs with it. She had to dodge more flying dinnerware as she battled the chairs. The absurdity of the situation made her want to laugh, but it was not really funny and she grimly bashed the chairs over and over again.

She made her way toward Ravin to make sure he was doing all right. "Do you need assistance, Señor Ravin?" She asked, holding out an extra chairleg she had picked up. "These work well, I have found."
