Ravin was sorry to hear that Jade had to leave them so abruptly. It was a shame that he and Isobel didn’t get to say goodbye to her, but hopefully she would be able to return soon. Mentally, he wished her luck good on her meeting with her employer then glanced at Erlic, who was in the process of checking the door for traps. Ravin didn't feel the need to assist since the older thief was quite proficient at searching for and disarming any traps that might be found.

His eyes darted around the room they entered, taking in the finely crafted cupboard and elegant furnishings. Whoever made their home down here certainly had expensive taste! He nodded in agreement when Erlic said that someone had gone to a lot of trouble to set up the magnificent room. A scratching sound made everyone tense. Ravin gripped his sword in his right hand while palming a dagger in his left.

"The chairs……they are ensorcelled!" Isobel cried, when they began banging against the hardwood floor.

Ravin dove to the ground when the dishes came flying at them from the cupboard. There was definitely magic afoot and he hated magic because it was difficult to combat with weapons! He made a mental note to hire a mage to accompany them on any future quest they might think to embark upon.

When he looked up, he saw the Jann battling a number of………chairs. "This just keeps getting better and better," he quipped as he jumped to his feet. Ravin swatted at one of the animated pieces of wood with his sword but did little to damage the damn thing. The Jann were faring much better with their huge blades.

Ravin continued to chip off pieces of wood from the chair that insisted upon attacking him while wishing he had Flann's mighty axe in hand instead. "Yeow!" he cried when another chair floated up behind him, bashing into his shoulder. Already he could feel a big ugly bruise forming! Quickly, he dropped to his knees, laughing when the two chairs that had had him wedged between them flew at each and crashed into little pieces, showering wood fragments all over him.

The thief jumped to his feet then sheathed his dagger before brushing himself off. He smiled at Isobel when she rushed to his side, handing him a thick chair leg. With a shrug he slid his sword into it scabbard then ran toward the large table, swinging the chair leg before him like a club. He grabbed one of the normal chairs using it as both shield and weapon. If I had a whip, I'd be like those lion tamers who work the circus in Bizmar he mused.

Ravin managed to smash three more animated chairs to smithereens before he found himself backed into a corner. Panting heavily, he set his chair down and leaned back against the wall, which suddenly flew open. Before he could right himself, Ravin fell onto some sort of metal chute and proceeded to slide down at a rapid speed. Although he tired to brace himself he twisted his ankle as he was tossed out onto hard pavement and immediately went into a roll.

He shook off his dizziness and whipped his blade out as he staggered to his feet. Three tall stone statues, resembling hill giants stood across from him in the fifty by fifty foot area. It appeared to be a treasure room, judging by all the locked chests that were lined against one wall near stone steps that led up to a wooden door. He blinked then took a step back when the statues moved, pulling huge spiked clubs out from behind their backs.

Golems! Fierce beings created by mages to guard their homes. Swiftly, Ravin withdrew a knife and tossed it at one of the statues. Thankfully, the thing reacted as if it were in pain when the blade chipped away some of the stone. That meant they could be hurt and possibly destroyed if one worked hard enough to whittle away at them with a sword.

Ravin took another step back when the three golems advanced on him. Because his eyes darted to the right to follow one of the golems, he missed seeing the club that came flying at him from one of the other monsters. It crashed into his chest, slamming him back into the wall and nearly knocking him senseless. Reacting quickly, he let another dagger fly. The blade actually sunk into one of the golem's eyes and it let out a howl that sounded very reminiscent of a wolf. Their eyes are vulnerable then, the thief thought, as he forced himself to his feet. Although he was a bit stunned from his impact with the wall, he held his sword out before him and prepared to do battle with the creatures that took another step closer to him.
