Argus shivered in delight as Laurel leaned down and kissed him chastely on the cheek. He could smell her beautiful scent... he wanted to reach out and touch her fiery hair, to pull her to him and kiss her passionately. Of course he didn't. It would be unthinkable to sully her purity by doing such a wanton thing. So he sat there and grinned like a fool.

"Though I do wonder at what sort of man tells a dirty-faced woman wearing only a plain shirt and dull brown pants that she is lovely," she said with a grin and a wink.

"One oo tin see yer inner beauty as it shines through any grime dat might sully yer physical perfection," he said like a big dope.

He didn't go so far as to vow never to wash that cheek again. But almost.
