"I suppose there will be more monsters to fight down there," Jade said with a sly smile, nudging Erlic. "I hope whatever's down there is worthy of all this fuss."

Jade didn’t appear to be your typical magic user, at least to Erlic she didn’t. The mages he had known in the past were simply content to remain behind the scenes of any danger, and attack with their magic. Jade, on the other hand, seemed quite intent on getting into the fray regardless of how dangerous it might be. Perhaps that was simply the nature of being Jade, however, he would enjoy trying to get to know her a bit better. She seemed quite open, and very outright in whatever she stated.

Before he could think any more along those lines, Jade grabbed his hand, and pulled him after her. This was a definite change of things. No one had ever bothered to even think of ever doing that with him. Ever.

When they arrived at the entrance to the underground lair, Tristan, and Marz were backing away from it as if they had seen something extremely dangerous down within the depths.

“What did you see Marz?” Erlic asked. Marz simply related how dark it was down there, and how it reeked. He further explained about the warning they had heard, and then the horrific white face that had materialized in front of them.

Erlic looked to Jade who seemed to have this glitter in her eye. It seemed she was quite taken by the description given by Marz, and couldn’t wait to get down there to see for herself. “All in do time,” Erlic stated while winking at her.

He dug into his backpack, and passed around several of the glowsticks that Boris had created specifically for this purpose. This way everyone would be able to see, despite the murkiness of the area. “If everyone is almost ready, I think we should begin exploration of what lies beneath,” Erlic announced. He looked around as was mostly concerned with Rowan. He didn’t want to leave the elf alone, and would probably go by himself, and someone else while the others waited behind.

“Are you up to it Rowan?” Erlic asked. “Or would you prefer to remain behind with some of the others?”

Erlic hoped that the elf was well enough to travel with them. He preferred to have everyone within one area so that nothing out of the ordinary happened without his knowledge. There were too many evils roaming around, especially in an old temple such as this one.

While waiting for Rowan’s response, Erlic turned to Jade. He handed her the glowstick. “I’ll let you be my light for now,” he stated. He knew she was a mage, and was probably quite capable of making her own type of light. But since she hadn’t announced her abilities to anyone but him, he decided to keep that secret to himself until it was absolutely necessary. “And don’t get yourself hurt,” he ended as an afterthought with just the slightest inclination of possibly caring about her well being.
