Ravin was too worried about his Rover family to think straight. No matter how hard he tried at the moment, he couldn't figure out what other information Eremis might be able to provide Tegol with. If the boy was smart he'd try to hold back for as long as possible because once he was of no more use to the crimelord he would probably be murdered.

The thief brushed away the tears that had formed in his eyes when he heard someone approach. He looked up into the concerned face of Isobel, warmed by the comforting words she spoke. When she turned to leave, he stayed her by touching her arm. "Don't go," he whispered. For once in his life he was openly admitting they he didn’t want to carry his burden alone.

Ravin drew her into his arms and simply held her close. "Those visions unnerved me because I have no idea if they speak of the past, present, or future. For all I know, my family is under attack at this very moment."

He rested his forehead against hers for a moment then drew in a deep breath before leading her to a truck of a fallen tree where they sat down together. "Tegol Denair arranged for the death of my mentor, Enos Zorin nearly three years ago," he told her. "Since then I've been doing my best to pay him back by disrupting his business dealings. It's me he wants, not the Rovers. If any of them suffer under his hand for what I've done, I'll never be able to forgive myself."

A far away look came to his eyes as he reached for Isobel's hand. "I would be more than willing to sacrifice myself if it meant that it would keep them safe." His warm brown eyes fell upon her face then, his thumb brushing nervously back and forth across her palm. "Thank you for being here with me, Isobel. I never realized it before, but it does help having someone to talk to at a time like this.
