Subject: To clean, and to comfort
In reply to: Barry and Isobel 's message, "Perchance to dream, indeed" on 15:25:15 12/20/01 Thu

Corum watched as Val did his healing stuff, and was glad that everyone was going to be all right. He didn’t particularly care for the way the women held out on them, and not telling them about the creature that was in the hot springs.

He was glad that Marz was ok, and quickly went to his side when he was called. He smiled at his friend’s suggestion of having the women take Justin, and really give him a good clean up. It was probably the best idea Marz had had so far, and would also do the rest of the group a world of good, not having to smell the awful, and ugly smell that went around wherever Justin went.

“You got it Marz!” Corum exclaimed as he approached the women, who now seemed a bit afraid of him. He put on his best I’m gonna chop your heads off if you don’t do what I say look, and spoke to them. “I want you to clean man,” Corum began pointing to the prone figure of Justin who was unconscious. “You clean him up real good, and his clothes, and shaman will be grateful.”

The women quickly bowed, and before Corum could figure out what was happening, they had grabbed some of the men, who lifted up Justin’s body, and carried him to the cave where the hot springs were located.

Corum simply shook his head as he headed back to the camp. Since it was nice, and warm by the fire, he decided it would be a safe place to fall asleep.

Erlic was busy transcribing into his journal, taking occasional looks at both Alakbar, and Isobel, to make sure they were both all right. He realized that Alakbar simply suffered from malnutrition, and good rest, and figured that the youth would sleep throughout the night.

His student Marz had been badly injured, but Erlic had learned from past experiences that the youth healed at an incredible rate. It was for this matter that the assassin wasn’t too concerned. From the time he had met Marz, he had found out many unusual facts about the youth, such as his ability to withstand an extreme amount of pain, his unusual ability to spew forth magic of an relentless nature whenever angered considerably, and his capacity for healing quickly.

He was more concerned with Isobel’s condition, even though Valhorek had assured him that it was but a temporary poison, and would soon be out of her body. He was also concerned with the condition of Tia. The assassin had seen Valhorek work before, and could only hope that the healer was right. Although he would never leave behind any comrade, he would have to see to it, that she was well tended to, should her vision not return by morning.

The guild master returned to his writing, logging in the events of the day. For him, it was another outlet that afforded him the pleasure of remembering the incidents of any trip or adventure he undertook, as well as the listings of the many adventurers that traveled with him. Although he had a fairly good memory, he didn’t like to rely on chance, and felt confident by having everything notated in his journal.

“Papa.”

Erlic turned to hear the woman’s voice. He moved closer to the woman, and laid a gentle hand on her face, moving the hair out of her eyes. “Your safe,” Erlic whispered. “Simply rest for now.”

He thought back to the time he had helped her off the roc, and was unceremoniously berated about not treating her like one of the other adventurers, more to the point, like one of the other guys. Perhaps he didn’t know women that well, and perhaps it was simply what he wanted to do at the time. In either case he would abide by her wishes, when she was at full health. For now, however, she was weak. He felt her forehead, and realized it was a bit on the warm side. He wasn’t too concerned since Valhorek had given her something to drink to take care of any infections she might have had, along with the poison.

He soaked a rag, and laid it on her forehead in hopes of cooling her fever. He tried to be careful so as not to wake the woman. She needed her rest, and morning would be upon them in a very short time. The battle with the creature had taken its toll with injuries to Marz, Tia, Ravin, Tristan, Isobel, and Justin. Well not necessarily Justin, but he had been injured nonetheless in an attempt to help the others.

He made sure Isobel was covered with the blanket, and decided to set next to her sleeping body should anything else occur during the night. He needed to sleep as well. He had released a large amount of chi, and only sleep, or meditating sleep, as he called it, would replenish the lost power. He decided he still had time left as he returned to his writing, occasionally glancing at Isobel.
